The Dark Approach: Christina Ricci in The Addams Family

Is it too late to pull off this look?

Let's talk about Wednesday Addams (Christina Ricci) from The Addams Family (1991).

When is it acceptable to dress like Wednesday?
  • Halloween
  • Today
  • Tomorrow
  • Yesterday
  • All other days and nights.

Same could be said of Morticia, actually. Perhaps Wednesday's wardrobe is more casual though.

Although Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice (1988) may have been the original Emo, perhaps Wednesday was the one to bring day-time Goth glamour into style (because her mother was undoubtedly the Goth Queen).

Yes, this will be the look to aspire to from now on.

Cult Status: Lisa Marie in Ed Wood

Anyone who dresses like Morticia Addams is a goddess to me.

Ed Wood (1994) is by far my favourite Tim Burton film. It's quite un-Tim Burton-esque, which is probably why I love it so much.

And also because of Vampira (a.k.a. Lisa Marie, a.k.a. my ultimate inspiration).

If I had been working in Hollywood in the '50s, I would hope to have been Vampira. She is not only a style-inspiration, but a life-inspiration for me.

Not only does she have amazing dresses, but she is extremely pale, wears dark make-up, has long blonde hair (but wears a black wig) AND carries an umbrella outside when the sun is shining (which is something I should start doing during the summer).

Vampira embodies everything fabulous the world has to offer.

You know what's even more fabulous about Vampira? The real-life Vampira was a Finnish woman.

Yes. She is basically me (although exponentially more glamorous and chic).

The Icon: Anjelica Huston in The Addams Family

It is now officially one week until Halloween, and I'm getting seriously excited.
So in honor of this, let us pay homage to one of the best dressed Gothic characters from throughout the decades: Morticia Addams.

I saw The Addams Family (1991) once when I was younger I think, but I don't remember if it was any good. What I do remember is that Anjelica Huston's costumes in the film were incredible.

I don't care what the fashion world says, the Goth-look is never out, not even in the summer. Plus, Anjelica Huston was a brilliant model back in the day.

I aspire to be as cool as Morticia.
