Creepy Couture: Angelina Jolie in Maleficent

Once upon a dream...

There is something about Disney's female villains that demand elaborate creepy couture. Just like the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman (2012) before her, Maleficent's (Angelina Jolie) wardrobe is not only a display of masterful craftsmanship from a team of designers, but also a detailed representation of the character and her story.

Essentially a good fairy turned evil, Maleficent's descent into the dark side was provoked by the betrayal of her love interest; a young man so desperate to become king that he molested Maleficent by cutting off her wings.

Maleficent's wardrobe is the ultimate representation of a scorned woman out for revenge.

Apparently, Angelina herself hand-picked the team of designers responsible for her look and further provided input as "all the designs were led by how Angelina envisioned the savage elegance of her character," as mentioned in an article in The Hollywood Reporter.

Savage elegance. Love it.

To achieve savage elegance, simply introduce leather, feathers, (faux) animal-skin and bone-inspired accessories to your everyday look.
